For the past week, fans have been talking about the head-to-head battle between WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite on Tuesday night as TBS moved Dynamite off its normal timeslot of Wednesday nights.
This marked the second time AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT went head-to-head since the USA Network moved NXT from Wednesday nights to Tuesday nights in 2021 and the first time in a year the two shows went head-to-head.
NXT drew 921,000 live viewers and 0.30 rating for the 18-49 demographic for the show. WWE brought in Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Asuka, LA Knight, and The Undertaker for the show. This was the highest total viewership since September 25, 2019, and the best key demo rating since October 2, 2019.
Dynamite did 609,000 viewers and a 0.26 rating in the key demo. Ratings were expected to be down because it aired in a different timeslot and went up against the loaded NXT show.
AEW President Tony Khan took his latest shot at WWE by noting that Cena and The Undertaker couldn’t boost NXT above a million viewers.
This week, 2 active decades-long ratings streaks from 2 great legends were ended
With all due respect, until this week's head-to-head AEW on TBS vs WWE on USA, neither John Cena nor Undertaker had ever been on a WWE show with under 1 million total viewers + under 400k in the demo— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) October 12, 2023
