Tony Khan Very Upset With CM Punk Interview, Has Wanted To Air All In Footage For A While

AEW announced during this week’s Collision that The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) will present backstage footage from AEW All In and will discuss it for the first time this coming week on Dynamite.

This is tied to the incident with CM Punk and Jack Perry at AEW All In last August. The incident resulted in Perry’s suspension and Punk’s release. The incident with Punk occurred after Punk advised Perry against using real glass for a segment on TV.

At All In, during his match, Perry made a spot on the windshield of a car and made a reference to glass to the camera, saying, “Real glass, cry me a river,” leading to the physical altercation. Punk went into detail about the incident this week while appearing on The MMA Hour.

Fightful Select, Dave Meltzer, and Bryan Alvarez all report that AEW will indeed be airing the footage. Fightful noted that the footage of the altercation is expected to air and those in AEW noted the promotion wouldn’t falsely promote something, much less like that. Alvarez and Meltzer also addressed it on Wrestling Observer Radio today.

Alvarez: “It is true that on Dynamite, Tony Khan is airing the Jack Perry-CM Punk footage from All In. It is not to bait and switch. When I first saw the graphic saying the Young Bucks when to show footage from All In, I immediately thought, ‘Okay, well, you know, the Young Bucks are heel characters, it’s going to be some goofy thing or whatever.’ But then I asked and I’m not talking like one person. Multiple people.”

Meltzer: “Well, I definitely can say that I definitely got it 100% confirmed.”

Alvarez: “It is 100%, they’re airing the footage. Tony was very upset about CM Punk’s interview. And apparently, I was told that he wanted to air this footage a long time ago. And for whatever reason, he did not. And now, I guess because of the timing and the interview and what CM Punk said, he is going to air it. And we’ve heard many sides of the story about what happened. We’re going to see Wednesday, but I think it’s safe to say that if it were the story that CM Punk told, I don’t know why Tony would air the footage.”
