AEW and WWE are in the running to pick up a notable free agent as the wrestling business inches closer to an exciting time in history, with both AEW and WWE’s media rights deals coming in 2024 with the belief that they will see a big increase in money, leading to more significant paydays for talent.
This seems to be an excellent time for Nick Aldis to decide on his next move in his wrestling career, as he is now a free agent. He had interest from WWE earlier this year, but the timing was bad due to Vince McMahon looking to close the acquisition of WWE from the Endeavor Group with the idea to merge WWE into a new company with the UFC.
Aldis returned to Impact Wrestling after leaving the NWA this past April at Rebellion, where he had been chasing the Impact World Title. He finished up with Impact at Slammiversary.
As previously reported, there is high interest in Aldis now from WWE that he’s free and clear. He is slated to be brought in as a producer for a trial period as early as next month.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Aldis is back in talks with WWE, but he’s also interested in going to AEW as well.
Meltzer wrote, “Aldis has no new deal in place and is said to be interested in both AEW and WWE.”
It was added that Aldis “is a free agent right now and had agreed to work here through this week.”
