WWE NXT is a brand on the rise since the company pivoted from making it NXT 2.0 with a focus on talent purely from an athletic background with no wrestling experience. They went back to the black and gold brand with a focus on a mixture of athletes and established wrestlers, leading the way to a resurgence for the brand and a new television deal with The CW Network in 2024, moving off the USA Network.
One notable wrestler they signed is Lexis King, real name Brian Pillman Jr, who left All Elite Wrestling earlier this year when his deal was not renewed.
On this week’s episode of WWE NXT, in the main event segment, Trick Williams was trying to figure out whether Carmelo Hayes was the one who attacked him. When Hayes asked if he wanted the truth, Lexis King came out to ask Trick to say what he really thought, indicating he thinks Hayes attacked him. Trick punched Lexis, who moved and connected with Hayes. Trick hugged him while Carmelo had an angry look on his face.
WWE held an NXT live event on Friday night from Lakeland, FL, and at the show, King lost to Hayes in a singles match, marking his first loss in WWE. King now holds a 6-1 record in NXT with one of those matches happening on television.
