Top WWE talent was told that CM Punk is not going to be at Survivor Series

WWE has done everything it can to limit the expectations of some fans regarding the Survivor Series premium live event in Chicago on Saturday and the belief CM Punk will make his return to the company following his departure from AEW.

Reason for speculation

There have been countless reports that WWE is not bringing him back and is not interested in doing that. There have also been Punk references on television, although those references are reportedly not intended as hints, something that reportedly is not being done on purpose.

WWE went out of their way to make it clear that it wouldn’t be Punk by announcing Randy Orton’s return as the mystery partner for World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes against The Judgment Day in the Men’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series in advance.

What we know

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Punk is not featured on any graphics, rundowns, or plans for the show. Both WWE and Punk’s claim to friends is he won’t be at Survivor Series.

Triple H had told some in the company that fans thinking there were references on purpose were looking for something that wasn’t there.

The report noted, “Top talent were outright told that CM Punk wasn’t coming in for Survivor Series when they asked. This includes talent that are at the level and in situations where it wouldn’t make sense to lie to them and wouldn’t be beneficial to a great locker room.”

Also, key creative names have been told he’s not coming in, and there are no creative plans for him that are known by the rest of the team. There remains some heat on Punk within the company.

Punk reportedly told at least one person close to him that he was speaking with a WWE higher-up recently. However, no context of that conversation was provided.
