AEW first introduced the Devil character with MJF last year at All Out to claim an AEW World Title shot before revealing he was the one under the mask. He later won the title from Jon Moxley after CM Punk was stripped of the title.
In recent weeks, The Devil has re-emerged by attacking Jay White, The Acclaimed, and Billy Gunn. White has been feuding with MJF while the babyfaces teamed with MJF on television.
Fans are still stuck with questions with no answers regarding the Devil. There’s been speculation that the person who will be revealed to be under the mask may not be playing the part right now. WWE did this with the Retribution group years ago.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that several people within the company know the identities of those who have portrayed the character in the past but have done well at keeping it quiet.
Those they spoke with believe it is not CM Punk and “it would be a huge work on those in the know if so.” Also, Dr. Britt Baker DMD, was ruled out to be under the mask.
