WWE has no plans of bringing back Patrick Clark, the man formerly known as The Velveteen Dream.
In 2020, he was accused of having inappropriate contact with minors and originally put out a statement noting that he was working with authorities to resolve the situation. After these allegations, he was only used a few times on NXT TV, with his last match coming against Adam Cole in December 2020. He also had backstage heat with several people in NXT due to his behavior. He was released in 2021.
In the past, Dream was accused of filming fellow wrestlers in the bathroom without their consent in addition to his arrests, accusations of recklessness in matches, wellness violations and other issues.
There had been rumors going around social media today noting Dream had been going to therapy and making progress in addition to visiting the Performance Center on Monday night.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select Dream has not signed with WWE and one WWE higher-up “stated that they have no interest in re-signing Patrick Clark/Velveteen Dream at this time, and something very shocking would have to take place for something like that to happen.”
Fightful has spoken to a dozen sources at the Performance Center, who went on the record, noting they haven’t heard about him, let alone seen him there and would be surprised to see WWE bring him back.
One star who was at the PC on Monday clarified that “The “PC” is two buildings,” and noted, “Would I put it past him to just randomly show up at like 7pm during the production meeting? No, I would not,” they said.
