Vince McMahon forced his way back into WWE this past January as the Executive Chairman of the WWE board. He positioned it as him exploring the possibility of WWE being sold this year and helping with the talks for a new media rights deal for Raw and Smackdown.
His return was after McMahon resigned as WWE CEO and Chairman last July amid the sexual misconduct and hush money allegations being investigated at the time. McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon, stepped down as WWE co-CEO shortly after he returned.
He achieved his goal as he agreed to let The Endeavor Group acquire WWE with the idea of merging the promotion into a new company with the UFC later this year.
Since the acquisition was announced, McMahon has made changes to WWE creative, whether minor or major.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports McMahon had major spinal surgery last week and is recovering. The surgery lasted nearly five hours, described as “a pretty intensive one.”
We wish him a speedy recovery.
