Warner Bros. Discovery Rejected Several Offers For John Cena’s “Coyote vs. Acme” Movie

John Cena’s “Coyote vs Acme,” a live-action/CG animation hybrid movie, will seemingly not be released. Things went downhill last year when Warner Bros. decided to shelve the project indefinitely after spending $70 million on it but was willing to shop the movie around to other studios.

The film

Dave Green directed the movie based on the classic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote from Warner Bros. Green is best known for directing Earth to Echo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Chris DeFaria and James Gunn produced the film.

Wile E. Coyote is a character who endlessly fails in his attempts to capture and kill his nemesis, the Road Runner. The former WWE Champion plays the Acme Corporation’s CEO character.

Offers

The Wrap reports Netflix, Amazon, and Paramount screened the movie and submitted offers, including Paramount’s offer to release it in theaters. However, Warner Bros. wanted something in the ballpark of $75 – $80 million from a buyer, or they would just take the $35 – $40 million as a tax write-off.

Although there were offers for the film, it was said WBD wouldn’t allow the studios to counter their asking price, and it was a “take it or leave it” situation. The movie will likely be shelved because of such a high asking price.
