Will Ospreay signs with AEW

The big name that has been teased by Tony Khan was officially revealed tonight at AEW Full Gear.

It was announced that Will Ospreay has signed with the company. Ospreay has appeared for AEW before but not as an official member of the roster because he’s under contract to New Japan Pro Wrestling. His deal with NJPW expires in early 2024 but NJPW has reportedly given their blessing for Ospreay to talk with other promotions before his deal expires.

Ospreay’s long list of accomplishments

Ospreay has won champions for several promotions around the world including the Progress Championship and Tag Team Championship, RevPro’s Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship, the ROH World Television Championship, and the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Ospreay is considered to be one of the best wrestlers in the entire world and the belief is that there was interest in him from WWE.

Ospreay last wrestled for AEW at the WrestleDream pay-per-view where he teamed with Konosuke Takeshita and Sammy Guevara against Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi. At AEW All In: London, Ospreay defeated Jericho in a singles match. At Forbidden Door in June, he defeated Kenny Omega for the IWGP United States Championship. Click here for complete AEW Full Gear results.
