As he prepares to return to WWE, William Regal has broken his silence regarding his departure from All Elite Wrestling.
AEW/ROH President Tony Khan previously addressed Regal’s departure from the promotion, revealing that Regal asked for the company not to renew his deal so he could return to WWE to be in NXT with his son, who wrestles as Charles Dempsey.
Regal has come to terms with WWE to make a return, where he will have a Vice President position starting in January. Before his WWE release, he had been Triple H’s right-hand man in NXT.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Regal confirmed that he finished up with AEW on Thursday and thanked AEW President Tony Khan as well as the rest of the hard-working crew in the company.
“Yesterday was my last official day with @AEW. I’d like to thank @TonyKhan, Megha and all the hard working crew. Contrary to people who’ve never spoken to me or have their information from people who don’t know me or are trying to make themselves noticed,I had a lovely time.….working there and had a great time. Lots of talented Wrestlers, and lovely people to work for. To my fellow BCC members, it was a special, albeit brief few months but it cemented our already strong friendship. To everyone there, thank you for welcoming me. Best wishes.”
