Dominik Mysterio’s feud with his father, Rey Mysterio, has been highly praised by many as it’s considered to be one of the best programs that WWE has done in recent memory. It’s been a slow build with them saving their first singles match against each other for WrestleMania 39 in LA.
The WWE Hall of Famer went over on his son thanks to Bad Bunny evening the odds against The Judgment Day. Rey recently suggested a mask vs. hair match as a potential stipulation to blow off the feud.
Things could’ve gone much differently, though, according to a new report. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that before the feud started, WWE considered moving Dominik to NXT.
Meltzer wrote, “While there is no chance of this happening now, before the decision to start the Rey vs. Dominik program, there was serious thought given to sending Dominik to NXT.”
Based on angles they’ve done on television, it appears WWE is building to Bunny and Rey vs. Dominik and Damian Priest in a tag team match at Backlash next month, as Bunny is set to host the PLE.
