The Rock has helped WWE’s business in a big way since returning in January, which has led to various records being shattered, including for WrestleMania XL, where he worked his first match in over a decade.
Rock teamed with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at the WrestleMania XL with the heels going over. The next night, Rhodes still got his revenge by winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Title from Reigns the next night.
The Wrap posted an article about production issues that impacted Rock’s film “Red One.” It was noted that the move cost $250 million to make due to unexpected production issues with The Rock’s “chronic lateness and lack of professionalism” being blamed for it. The spokesperson for Amazon MGM also denied that there were issues with Rock that led to increased costs.
The report added that Rock’s lateness was a factor at WrestleMania XL, where The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez was told by two insiders, “Earlier this month, he was three hours late arriving ahead of his main event match at WrestleMania 40.”
WWE has denied this claim by having Chris Legentil, WWE’s executive vice president for Talent Relations and Head of Communications state, “Dwayne was not only on time for WrestleMania, he was hours early to help with rehearsal — and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire run.”
The Rock was two hours late for an appearance at WWE World, but it was said by WWE sources that Rock was late due to traffic and other WWE-related commitments.
