WWE is looking to hold another premium live event in an international market this year, coming off the widely praised Backlash PLE in Puerto Rico and ahead of Money in the Bank in London on July 1st. The company also hosted its Night of Champions show at Jeddah SuperDome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this past Saturday.
As previously reported, there has been talk of WWE returning to Australia to host its first PLE since 2018.
WWE is also looking to return to India as WWE CEO Nick Khan revealed last month at the Moffet Nathanson conference that WWE plans to hold a live event in India this September.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported, “The date 9/9 is being discussed for the first major show in years in India.”
WWE previously tried to tap into the Indian market in 2021 for a January special in the ThunderDome called ‘WWE Superstar Spectacle’ showcasing several of WWE’s Indian stars.
WWE’s had plans for a major event in India, with a show scheduled for January 18, 2023, at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India, but it was postponed.
