WWE booked a dream match for many fans over the weekend between AJ Styles and Gunther.
At Saturday’s house show in Moline, Illinois, Gunther defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles. This marked the first time that both men faced each other. Styles won the match via DQ, which allowed Gunther to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
WWE also booked the match at Sunday’s live event in Rochester, MN with the same finish. Gunther posted this photo on his Twitter account to remember the moment:

Gunther became WWE Intercontinental Champion in June by defeating Ricochet and has been pushed as a top star since joining WWE, where he was used in NXT UK and NXT before joining the main roster.
