WWE is making changes to their production after Kevin Dunn’s exit

There have been a lot of changes behind the scenes in WWE, and those changes are starting to be noticeable on WWE television.

New process

WWE recently announced that they had hired Lee Fitting as Head of Media and Production following the departure of Kevin Dunn, the longtime WWE head of production. The impact of the hire of Fitting has become more noticeable over the last week, including last Monday’s Raw and Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that the most glaring sign of the change has been two videos across Raw and SmackDown, as one video featured Chelsea Green and Piper Niven at a club to confront Kayden Carter and Katana Chance. There was another that aired on SmackDown with Butch teasing a name change to Pete Dunne, his old gimmick with Tyler Bate. There was also a segment with Kevin Owens, who was hyping his feud with US Champion Logan Paul.

Internal reaction

Per the report, Triple H allowed Jeremy Borash to put together a team in NXT over the last few years, away from Dunn’s radar and was happy with how they played out, so when Dunn left, this opened the door for that style of videos to air across all of WWE’s programming.

Those they spoke with who were part of helping put together the promos spoke highly of the new process and the freedom to them. The report stated, “One source noted that under Dunn, the segment would have likely cut away to several different things, but the new method was to let the characters breathe, and the segment to play out.”
