On Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, Lita teamed up with Becky Lynch to challenge Damage CTRL for the Women’s Tag Team Titles in the main event. During it, Trish Stratus made her return to attack Bayley at ringside for trying to get involved in the bout before Lita and Lynch beat YO SKY and Dakota Kai to win the titles.
Heading into the match, it was reported that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler were supposed to challenge for the titles at WrestleMania Goes Hollywood. Based on this finish of the match, it sets the stage for WWE to do a potential Stratus vs. Bayley match or six-woman tag team match at WrestleMania. WrestlingNews.co exclusively reported this week that Rousey wants a tag team title run and it’s expected that she and Shayna Baszler will win the belts soon.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is planning more twists and turns with this storyline involving the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
Meltzer wrote, “The only thing we know is that the women’s tag title situation with the six women involved, as well as Bayley and Trish Stratus, has several twists and turns yet to come before the matches are finalized. Whether that means another title change back, or a Stratus heel turn leading to that, or something else isn’t known past, we’ve got more storyline to get to the destination of likely two different matches coming out of this.”
Meltzer did add that Rousey and Baszler were slated to wrestle the Women’s Tag Team Champions coming out of the feud in a few weeks.
