WWE is still planning the return of an absent star

Although one WWE star has yet to make his return, something expected in recent weeks, the company still has plans for a SmackDown wrestler who is expected to make a comeback.

The injury

Sheamus has been an upper mid-carder in recent years while being paired with Butch and Ridge Holland. He most notably feuded with Drew McIntyre and GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Title earlier this year.

The former WWE Champion has been sidelined with a shoulder injury as his last match happened in a loss to Edge on the August 18th SmackDown.

Plans to return

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez was recapping last week’s SmackDown when he noted that Holland walked out on Butch in a recent match. This past week there was a segment where Pretty Deadly made fun of Butch and WWE teased Butch getting some backup.

It looks like Sheamus would be coming back since it would make more sense for Sheamus to return to aid Butch rather than Holland, who recently turned.  Dave Meltzer said Sheamus is “supposed to be back real soon.”
