Vice News has a story up on allegations made several years ago by the late Ashley Massaro.
Massaro, who died in 2019 by suicide, claimed in legal documents that she was raped on a military base in Kuwait. Per the Vice story, John Laurinaitis’ attorney objected to the “cover up” phrasing but said that Laurinaitis and “most upper level management” knew about the allegations, which contradicts WWE’s claim that they didn’t know because they weren’t made aware.
The sworn affidavit that was released in 2019 states that someone who claimed to be a U.S. Army doctor injected her with a drug during WWE’s 2006 tour. After she was raped, Massaro said that executives, including McMahon and Laurinaitis, told her not to talk about what happened because it would endanger WWE’s relationship with the military. “He told me not to let one bad experience ruin the good work they were doing,” Massaso said about McMahon in the legal documents.
VICE News reports that in June 2019, an investigation was opened by the Naval Criminal Intelligence Service and it was close in January 2020.
