Monday’s episode of WWE Raw was loaded up as the company continues to get closer to WrestleMania 40 next month.
The show
The top things that took place on the show were Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan, Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) defending against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark, and a Cody Rhodes segment.
There was also a Gauntlet match to decide Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship challenger at WrestleMania 40 with Ricochet vs. Chad Gable vs. Sami Zayn vs. Bronson Reed vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. JD McDonagh. This took up the majority of the third hour.
Zayn went over after beating Reed, Nakamura, and Gable. As a result, Zayn will challenge Gunther for the IC Title at WWE’s biggest event of the year.
Change
As usual, Fightful Select put out the internal run sheet for the show right before it went live, and comparing that sheet to what happened, there was a late change to the bout order, as the original plan called for Reed to beat Ricochet before Zayn would go over Reed. That would lead to Zayn beating Reed, McDonagh, and Nakamura while Gable is the last entrant.
What instead happened was Ricochet vs. McDonagh opened with Ricochet going over and then losing to Reed, who would then lose to Zayn, who would eliminate Nakamura and then Gable.
