WWE has been in talks with a major name but those talks have fallen apart and there are no active negotiations at the moment.
Fightful Select is reporting that the company was in talks with Mercedes Money (the former Sasha Banks) about returning. The dialogue was said to be friendly but things did not progress to the point where both sides were both in agreement on a deal. WWE sources are claiming that they were the ones to walk away from the negotiations. For what it’s worth, Fightful Select reported last week that Banks’ asking price was more than what Charlotte Flair is making on her new deal so it’s pretty clear that Banks is not signing anywhere for cheap. It’s unclear if that was the issue that led to a breakdown in talks with WWE or something else.
Fightful added that another source in the company believed that she would be appearing elsewhere imminently but they did not say where. It’s no secret that AEW has been interested in signing her and Tony Khan invited her to attend ALL IN: London back in August. At the time there was a working plan for her if she ended up signing with the company.
Other possible landing spots for Mone could be TNA Wrestling. and New Japan Pro Wrestling. TNA is willing to spend money to bring in some big names as they are pushing hard the idea that they are not the same TNA from years ago and they are looking to bring new eyeballs to their product. New Japan Pro Wrestling executives have also expressed that they would love to work with her again.
The news about Mone and WWE’s talks falling apart comes just as she was sending out teases on social media that came across as her possibly looking to make a return. It appears that we won’t be seeing a WWE return for Sasha Banks…at least not in the near future.
