WWE Never Made an Official Offer to RUSH After AEW Offered Him “Insane Money”

AEW President Tony Khan was able to keep RUSH under contract despite the talented wrestler having interest from other promotions, including WWE.

As previously reported, RUSH confirmed this week in a social media post that he had re-signed with AEW. This was amidst reports of WWE being interested in the former ROH World Champion. Khan is looking to keep talent under contract for the long haul.

Some speculated that RUSH was all but WWE-bound due to the lack of usage by AEW.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that RUSH signed a new deal with AEW after his previous contract expired. CM Punk has publicly pushed for RUSH to be on Rampage.

Because his deal expired, it gave him some leverage in talks. The belief is the new deal is for multiple years.

Regarding WWE’s interest, it was explained by multiple people in the company that they wanted to bring him in for NXT and would make him an offer much bigger than just about anyone in NXT because they knew AEW would give him a notable offer.

Meltzer wrote, “However, WWE never made an official offer because when they found out what AEW offered, they knew there was no way he was going to WWE.” It was added that someone in WWE called the offer “insane money.”
