WWE NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov took place at the WWE NXT Great American Bash premium live event from the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Austin, Texas.
From the get-go, these guys went at it with each having plenty of turns of offense. Dragunov with a series of german suplexes. Dragunov followed up with some chops to the chest of the champion. They traded strikes before Hayes caught him with a superkick and Dragunov answered with a major league clothesline for 2. Hayes with a tilt a whirl slam that popped the crowd. Hayes rained down elbow strikes then hit a spring board DDT for 2. Hayes went to the top rope, but Dragunov caught him with a head kick. Dragunov with a back senton off the top rope for 2. Hayes went for a dive, but Dragunov caught him with a wicked powerbomb that resulted in Hayes landing on his neck. Dragunov with a forearm shot for 2. Hayes countered a suplex off the top rope into a cutter for 2. Dragunov missed Hayes with a dive and took out Trick Williams. Hayes with his leg drop finisher for the win.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes
