WWE has attempted to keep the focus on the positives instead of the allegations made against Vince McMahon, both publicly and privately.
Allegations
McMahon resigned from all his roles within TKO, including TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors, after the lawsuit that alleged him to be involved in a sex trafficking and abuse scandal from a former WWE employee, Janel Grant.
It was reported today that the allegations are being investigated by prosecutors in New York who have been in contact with women who have accused the former WWE CEO.
Triple H was criticized when he took part in the WWE Royal Rumble post-event press conference and was asked about the lawsuit filed against WWE, John Laurnatis, and McMahon. Triple H brought up other news items, including the new Netflix deal and the Royal Rumble. He said he wanted to focus on the positives and that he had not read the lawsuit.
Internal take
It should be noted that before the Royal Rumble, talent was instructed not to talk about the allegations to the media, although Natalya and Nia Jax did. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is telling talent that McMahon won’t be back when questioned about the lawsuit.
Meltzer wrote, “According to one main roster star, nobody has talked to them about the situation from management, other than to tell them that Vince won’t be back. Instead they were told how successful the Royal Rumble was and how big the new Netflix deal is.”
It was added that one star said it was hard not to have read the lawsuit and “you’d have to be living under a rock if you didn’t read it.”
