WWE reportedly in talks with ‘new significant performers’

After taking over main roster creative following Vince McMahon’s resignation from WWE due to the hush money scandal, Triple H went on a signing spree last year.

Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, Karrion Kross, Candice LeRae, Johnny Gargano, Chelsea Green, Bronson Reed, Hit Row, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Tegan Nox, Sarah Logan, Emma, Dexter Lumis, and others were brought back to the company.

However, there haven’t been any new signings this year for established names, leading to rumors of a hiring freeze as WWE recently agreed to be acquired by the Endeavor Group, which will see WWE merge with UFC before the end of 2023 to form a new company. McMahon will be the Executive Chairman of the WWE side once the transaction is made. Typically, when a company is looking to sell or be acquired, it will not hire any new people and will try to cut costs as much as possible to make the company look more profitable.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there is no hiring freeze going on, and WWE remains in talks with significant performers, although he didn’t mention who these wrestlers are.

Ringside News first reported that there is not a hiring freeze in WWE.

Meltzer wrote, “There is also no hiring freeze as has been reported in many places. WWE is still business as usual when it comes to hiring and in talks with new significant performers.”

WWE had the chance to recently sign a few notable wrestlers, such as Brian Cage and FTR, who opted to stay with AEW. In the case of Jay White, who had been strongly considered to be someone that was WWE bound, he went with AEW instead.
