Fans can expect to see Shinsuke Nakamura on WWE NXT television more often.
Tuesday night was a unique situation as TBS moved AEW Dynamite from its traditional Wednesday night timeslot to Tuesday night due to MLB playoff game coverage.
This marked the first time AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT went head-to-head since the USA Network moved NXT from Wednesday nights to Tuesday nights last year.
WWE was reportedly determined to beat Dynamite in the TV ratings as the rival promotion loaded up their show to help with the expected ratings drop. Hence, WWE brought in several main roster stars, including Nakamura, Austin Theory, Rhea Ripley, Raquel Rodriguez, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio.
Nakamura beat Stacks as a surprise opponent on the show that Tony D’Angelo set up.
Pwinsider.com reports the former NXT Champion will be making additional appearances in WWE NXT. It’s unclear exactly what WWE has planned for the SmackDown star.
In recent weeks, WWE has used NXT stars on the main roster and, for most of the year, has sent main roster talent to NXT to help boost the television ratings of the developmental program.
