WWE sold a lot of tickets for live event in Inglewood, CA after advertising CM Punk

It didn’t take long for WWE to get CM Punk his first match since returning to the company as he worked a match against Dominik Mysterio on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Staying busy

The sold-out event set a new record for the highest-grossing domestic non-televised live event in the history of the entire company. Before this contest, Punk’s last match in WWE was at the 2014 Royal Rumble.

A second match was booked for a WWE live event on Saturday, December 30th, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA. Punk has already confirmed he would be in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match.

Punk is also going to be at the January 8th Raw in Portland, Oregon, and returning to Raw for the January 22nd show in New Orleans. No other appearances have been confirmed at this time.

The event

WrestleTix has been tracking ticket sales for Saturday’s house show, which have been strong. Before Punk was advertised, they had sold 8,816 for a setup of 11,991. Five days later, they had sold 1,560 tickets with tickets distributed being 10,376.

On December 21, WWE had sold an additional 1,581 tickets. On Thursday, the report noted another 939 tickets were sold for a total of 12,896, with 797 remaining for a setup of 13,693.
