Flash Morgan Webster was among the NXT UK names to be let go by WWE earlier this month.
Fightful Select reports that Webster was still injured during the time of his WWE release.
Webster originally signed with WWE in 2018 to be part of the NXT UK brand before being upgraded to an NXT deal in 2019 that ran for three years. That deal expired, and he worked on a short extension throughout the summer before re-signing with the company earlier this year. During this time, he had passed on two contracts with pay increases.
Webster was sidelined with an injury last year and hasn’t worked a match since October. It was believed that Webster signed the new deal to make sure he was “taken care of during the injury process, but that doesn’t seem to completely be the case.”
Fightful reports that even though the surgeon cleared Webster shortly before his release, his physician had not. He was said to be nowhere near being able to return to the ring.
WWE had avoided releasing injured talent in the past.
