This year’s WWE SummerSlam PLE was loaded with several top matches from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, including Roman Reigns retaining the Undisputed WWE Universal Title thanks to outside interference from Jimmy Uso over Jey Uso in the main event.
Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair in a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship was also a notable moment where Belair went over to win the title.
Post-match, Bayley attacked Asuka and Flair while IYO SKY attacked Belair with the MITB briefcase and cashed it. SKY hit her moonsault finisher to win the title.
WWE can go in several different directions coming out of SummerSlam, with Asuka and Belair demanding a rematch or perhaps another triple threat match heading into September’s Payback PLE.
WrestleOps noted that Asuka, Flair, and Belair made history at the event by being involved in the longest Women’s match in the PPV’s history, as the bout went over 20 minutes.
