Triple H confirmed during an interview with The Ringer that this year’s WWE Survivor Series will feature two WarGames matches.
“We’ll have a men’s WarGames match and a women’s WarGames match. The tradition of the Survivor Series has ebbed and flowed and changed slightly over time, but this will be similar to that,” Triple H said. “This will not be Raw versus SmackDown. It will be much more story-line driven. I still look at it as a traditional component to Survivor Series in there because it’s large teams of people competing. We just upped the ante a little bit with WarGames and made it evolve.”
The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 26, at TD Garden in Boston.
Triple H brought back WarGames in 2017 and used the match gimmick as an annual event theme for the NXT brand.
WWE’s main roster has never utilized the WarGames concept until now. WarGames was a creation by Dusty Rhodes in 1987 for the NWA and later used in WCW.
In recent years, WWE Survivor Series has been about “brand supremacy” between Raw and SmackDown, with stars from both brands facing off in elimination and champion vs. champion matches.
