Young Bucks reportedly respond to rumors they sent out feelers to WWE

The Young Bucks-WWE story has been going around for the last few days as the rumor is the top AEW tag team sent out feelers to friends in WWE.

As previously reported, this rumor has been going around since August. One source told Fightful that they asked to speak with someone in management.

The story originally came out when Ryan Frederick of the Wrestling Observer reported that the Bucks had contacted a WWE talent to inquire about WWE’s potential interest in them once they become free agents in 2024 when their AEW contracts are up.

This is not uncommon and doesn’t mean that they’re interested in going to WWE when they’re legally able to do so, but they can use that as leverage for a better deal with AEW when negotiations happen.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio the Young Bucks have denied this even took place.

“We talked about the WWE story. The only thing I know on that is they have said that story is not true. They talk to people in WWE. That’s not unusual, but time will tell on what happened and what’s happening and everything like that, but I do know that they’ve denied that stuff.”

Meltzer continued by pointing out one aspect of the story that he thought was weird comes down to Nick and Matt Jackson going through an intermediary after speaking with Triple H directly in 2018 before signing with AEW.

“One thing that’s kinda weird to me, it’s like the nature of the story is that they called a WWE talent, who I’m sure they did call and wanted to get in touch with Triple H or something, right? It’s like, why would they…if you wanna get in touch in Triple H, they negotiated with the guy in 2018. A lot, so why would you need an intermediary to go through? If that was your goal, why? That’s the thing that doesn’t add up. I’m not saying it didn’t happen. I am saying they denied it happened.”
