AEW WrestleDream Title Change Was Planned For Weeks

The AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view event from the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA, featured several newsworthy moments, whether that be the returns of Adam Cole, Swerve Strickland, and MJF or the match outcomes.

Brian Cage won the ROH TV Title on the zero-hour pre-show, while Jon Moxley won the World Heavyweight Title from Bryan Danielson in the main event. With Danielson’s loss, his full-time wrestling career is now over.

Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet vs. Konosuke Takeshita in a three-way for the International Title also took place. The finish saw outside interference from Don Callis to screw over Ospreay, but it wasn’t until Kyle Fletcher hit Will with a screwdriver that was what led to the title change. After the match, Fletcher hit a tiger driver to Ospreay for good measure.

Fightful Select reports that Takeshita has been planned for the title win for a number of weeks. Following the injury angle, it’s unclear how long Ospreay will be off television.
