The World Heavyweight Championship has been declared vacant. Adam Pearce, alongside Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman, opened the show in the ring. Breakker was holding the championship belt on his shoulder as Pearce delivered the news.
Adam Pearce informed the trio that due to their attack on Seth Rollins last week, Rollins was forced to undergo major surgery. As a result of the injury, Pearce announced he had to strip Rollins of the World Heavyweight Championship.
To crown a new champion, Pearce announced that a Battle Royal would take place tonight. The winner of that match will go on to face CM Punk at the upcoming Saturday Night Main Event for the vacant title.
After the announcement, Pearce instructed Bron Breakker to hand over the championship belt. Breakker paused and told Pearce to say, “Please.” Pearce obliged the demand. Breakker then handed the title to Paul Heyman, who subsequently passed it to Pearce. Pearce then exited the ring, leaving Heyman and his clients.
Paul Heyman took the opportunity to address the situation. He said he pulled the moves he did against CM Punk at WrestleMania because he knew Breakker is the future of the company. Heyman then made a bold claim, stating that Bronson Reed “is better than Roman Reigns”. He praised both men, saying they had the “intensity to pull the trigger on Rollins and become WrestleMania main-eventers”.
