In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Marty Scurll is not advertised for ROH’s Final Battle pay-per-view in December and his contract expires at the end of this month. Once his deal expires, he would be one of the top free agents available this year and would have interest from several promotions.
Scurll owns the Villain Club name so he would be free to use it wherever he ends up. For what it’s worth, there was a tease on the latest BTE that showed a photo of all of The Elite members, with Scurll included.
Dave Meltzer reported that the belief is that there are two places that are of interest to Scurll. One place where he would like to go is AEW and the other is New Japan Pro Wrestling. If he wants to go to NJPW then it could mean that he could be considering staying with ROH and work more with NJPW.
WWE doesn’t seem to be out of the question since they would likely offer him a good deal to keep him from signing with AEW. It also doesn’t hurt that he lives in Florida so he would be close to Full Sail University if he wants to work in NXT. Meltzer said that his sense is that NXT is likely not happening. He also noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that he’s been given the impression that AEW is the most likely destination but he has talked to Scurll and he has been tight lipped about what his plans are.
We should know more in a couple of weeks when his ROH contract expires on 11/30. The Marty Scurll tease (some are calling it that) can be seen in the latest BTE at 14:20 in the video below.
