As noted on Monday night, there were several segments that had to be changed because the medicals would not allow certain people at Raw Reunion to take bumps.
It’s unclear which segments involving the legends that were changed but Ricochet had to be pulled from a planned segment with D-Generation X because he’s been dealing with an elbow infection. This was discussed by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio and this explains why they booked Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles.
“Ricochet has an elbow infection so the whole spot that Seth did with AJ Styles, that was all [supposed to be for] Ricochet,” Dave Meltzer said.
Meltzer added that the DX segment was originally written out for them to endorse Ricochet.
He added, “I do not know that this was a Paul Heyman idea but I do know that Ricochet is one of his projects and I know that one of the ideas on the show is that Ricochet gets the big rub at the end from DX where they endorse him and they say he’s going to be the next big thing. That was what that segment was supposed to be. Ricochet was not cleared to do anything so Seth Rollins took his place.”
So, for anyone wondering why Ricochet was not on the show, this is the reason why. WWE did make an attempt to get some of the other current stars over by having Bray Wyatt attack Mick Foley and The Usos’ interaction with John Cena and Rikishi.
