As WWE prepares for its massive two-night SummerSlam premium live event, another star from its partner promotion, Lucha Libre AAA, is in the New York and New Jersey area for the weekend. According to a new report, AAA’s Mr. Iguana is in town for the festivities.
Mr. Iguana In Town For SummerSlam Weekend
A report from Fightful Select has learned that Mr. Iguana, who is signed to a WWE/AAA deal, is in the area and is “expected to be around for those shows.” It has not yet been confirmed if he will be backstage at the events or appear on camera.
Pulled From Independent Shows
The report adds another layer to the story, noting that a promoter claimed both Mr. Iguana and fellow AAA legend Psycho Clown had to pull off of scheduled independent shows this weekend. The reason given was that they were called in by WWE for events over the SummerSlam weekend.
The presence of Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown is the latest example of the deep and growing partnership between WWE and AAA. The crossover has seen several WWE stars appear in AAA, with Natalya recently making her debut and Dominik Mysterio set to challenge for the AAA Mega Championship on August 16. On tonight’s go-home episode of SmackDown for SummerSlam, the reigning AAA Tag Team Champions, Los Garza, have also issued an open challenge for their titles.
