WWE is slated to return to Japan later this year, and it appears that a wrestler who hasn’t been used in a while will be working on the show.
WWE will be in Osaka on July 25th and Osaka on July 26th and 27th for the house shows. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, Shinsuke Nakamura, Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane are also advertised. It should be noted that Asuka is currently sidelined with a knee injury.
WWE is advertising Meiko Satomura for three events in Japan. Meiko has been in the pro wrestling business for 25 years and co-founded Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling.
She had a stint with WWE by working the Mae Young Classic tournament in 2018, where she made it to the semifinals. In the middle of 2019, she was brought in to be a guest coach at the Performance Center in Orlando. Satomura started her career in the mid-90s, competed in WCW, and won many championships in Japan. Also, in 2019, she had the chance to train with SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in Japan at the Sendai Girls’ dojo.
She has been with WWE since 2020 but hasn’t wrestled since the March 7, 2023 episode of NXT. In the meantime, she has worked sparingly, including at Fortune Dream 9 in June and appearing during DDT Pro Wrestling’s Toden Train Match.
