After it was announced that Adam Cole would be appearing on Amazon Live today to promote WWE’s Mattel line, some speculated that this was a sign that he had signed a new deal with the company. The stream was actually taped a few weeks ago so this is not an indication that a deal has been reached.
In fact, PWInsider is reporting that internally, WWE considers him to be done with the company unless both sides get together to come to terms on a new deal.
After Friday, Cole will legally be able to negotiate with any wrestling company. It’s no secret that All Elite Wrestling would love to have him and I’m sure other wrestling companies would love to sign him as well.
In theory, since he would not have a non-compete, if he signs with AEW then he could debut on AEW Dynamite as soon as this coming Wednesday.
One other thing on Cole is that he recently stated that his Twitch account is not going away. If he had signed a deal to stay with WWE then he would have moved to the main roster and, unless Vince McMahon gave him an exemption, he would have had to put an end to his Twitch stream because of WWE’s mandate that prohibits their wrestlers from working independently with third party companies.
