AEW star and WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland has indicated a potential end date for his storied in-ring wrestling career. Speaking on “First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo,” Copeland discussed the physical demands of performing at his age.
Acknowledging the toll wrestling takes, Copeland mentioned his recovery time after matches has significantly increased. “Like all of the match, and it’ll take me a good week to finally start walking normal, you know?” he stated, adding humorously, “I always say I’m like the evolution of man. When I wake up in the morning, I start off as like a CRO magnon, then I make it up to Neanderthal, and then eventually I’m human. But it takes a little while.”
He noted that the current, less demanding schedule in AEW is manageable compared to his past WWE schedule. “If you asked me to try and pull off the over 200 days a year that I pulled before, there’s absolutely no way, because the recovery just takes too long now,” Copeland said.
Regarding his future, the 51-year-old revealed a specific timeframe he has in mind for stepping away. “So I realize now, like I’m, you know, I’m 51 years old. I figure I got till maybe 53 the end of this contract, and then, and then, I think it’s probably time to call it a day and just get out while I can still limp away… and then lick my wounds and do a whole lot of yoga after.”
