AEW Star Breaks Silence On Absence

AEW star Ortiz has responded to a fan on social media regarding his status with the company and a potential return to television. Ortiz has been absent from AEW programming for the majority of 2024 after suffering a significant injury.

His last match took place on the January 20, 2024, episode of AEW Collision. On that show, he teamed with Eddie Kingston in a tag team match against Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli. Ortiz suffered a torn pectoral during the match, which later required surgery and an extensive recovery period.

After completing his rehabilitation, Ortiz made his return to in-ring action on the independent circuit in March 2025 and has been competing for various promotions since. Despite being medically cleared, he has yet to reappear on AEW Dynamite, Rampage, or Collision.

This led a fan to post on X, asking AEW President Tony Khan to bring Ortiz back to company programming. The post caught the attention of Ortiz himself, who replied and shared his own interest in a comeback. In response to the fan’s request, Ortiz wrote:

“That would be cool….”

There has been no official word from AEW on when Ortiz might be factored back into storylines.
