AEW star Ricochet has offered a blunt and forceful response to a new report detailing WWE’s alleged strategy to counterprogram major All Elite Wrestling events. The high-flyer took to social media to share his two-word opinion on the matter.
WWE’s “Last Word” Strategy
The situation began when the wrestling news account WrestleVotes reported about WWE’s scheduling philosophy. The report claims that WWE and its parent company, TKO Group Holdings, are making a concerted effort to run live events in the same market and on the same day as major AEW pay-per-views.
“This is definitely something WWE wants to do where hey, if NXT is on the road and booking for arenas, they want to do it somewhere where they’re gonna have the last word of the night,” WrestleVotes reported. “AEW’s gonna be having ‘ALL IN’ in the afternoon and WWE’s gonna be coming in there after with SNME, so at the end of the day you’re not just talking about the fall out from AEW, you’re talking about what WWE is doing as well. Controlling the narrative and momentum online.” The report concluded that this is a “directive” from WWE and TKO.
Ricochet’s Blunt Response
In response to this report being shared on X, Ricochet, a former WWE United States and Intercontinental Champion who is now a top star in AEW, did not mince words. He shared the report and added a simple, direct caption: “Bitch move.”
This weekend serves as a prime example of the strategy outlined in the report. The entire wrestling world will be focused on the Arlington, Texas area, with ROH Supercard of Honor on Friday, AEW All In on Saturday afternoon, and WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event taking place on Saturday evening, giving WWE the final major show of the day. Evolution airs on Sunday night. This isn’t the first time the two companies have gone head-to-head, echoing the “Wednesday Night War” that saw NXT and AEW Dynamite air opposite each other for over a year.
