WWE United States Champion AJ Styles did an interview with Cathy Kelly on WWE Now.
During the interview, he discussed WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels turning down a match against him.
“I asked Shawn [about a match] and he said ‘No.’ Well, That’s on Shawn, guys. I can’t do anything about that. I would love to opportunity to do that match.”
Styles would note that he understands Michaels’ mindset against the match at the time but did note that HBK did later come out of retirement for a tag team match at Crown Jewel 2018 but went right back into retirement.
Back in October 2016, Styles teased a match with Michaels at the Royal Rumble PPV, which got everyone talking about a possible match between the two stars.
However, it didn’t happen. No doubt it would have been a match that everyone would have loved to have seen it.
