AJ Styles thinks WWE won’t be able to hold events outside of Performance Center until 2021

The hosting site of this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event has been a hot topic and with the event only a few weeks away, speculation has ramped up.

Starting on Monday, it was reported by Mike Johnson that WWE was looking to hold the show at an outdoor location with the possibility of it taking place on a beach or a boat. Bryan Alvarez noted that same day that Vince McMahon wants to do something “wacky” for the event.

WrestleVotes reported on Wednesday that WWE has been looking into hosting SummerSlam in the northeast at an outdoor location with a limited number of fans in attendance. So far, they haven’t found a state that is willing to allow that to happen.

During Wednesday’s live stream on his Twitch channel, AJ Styles commented on the reports about WWE trying to find an outdoor location for this event after it was moved from Boston at the TD Garden.

According to Styles, he would be surprised if WWE is able to run an event outside of the Performance until 2021.

“I have no idea what’s going on with SummerSlam or where it’s gonna be, if it’s going to be at the PC or if we’re actually going to get to do this.

If I’m a betting man, I bet that we don’t do anything until 2021 outside the Performance Center. I could be wrong, I hope I’m wrong. But just based on everything and how everything is going on, it would surprise me if we did.”
