Al-Qaeda has issued a warning to Mohammad bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia.
The Independent reports that a group condemned the prince for “absurdities” that have “opened the door wide for corruption and moral degradation.” This is a response to what the group calls “sinful projects” such as the opening of movie theaters and holding WWE’s ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ event in April.
“[Foreign] disbelieving wrestlers exposed their privates and on most of them was the sign of the cross, in front of a mixed gathering of young Muslim men and women,” al-Qaeda’s statement said.
The country is making progress. More cinemas have opened and the long-standing ban on driving for women will end this month. The prince has been critical of the religious establishment for being out of touch.
WWE plans to run another event in the country later this year.
