Alberto Del Rio appeared on Nos Cayó La Noche in Mexico to discuss his business endeavors and professional wrestling.
At one point during the interview, Alberto said he has been in talks with WWE and believes that a deal can be reached for him to return in mid-2020. He says he considers himself semi-retired but would like one final run.
“We have been in communication, ” Alberto said. “We have rebuilt the bridge. On their part, they were wrong on some decisions and I also did some things wrong on my part. I am hoping that we can reach an agreement sometime this year or by the middle of this year I’ll be back there.”
Alberto’s last run did not end on the best of terms and he would later make negative comments about the company, specifically Triple H. However, he said in 2018 that he has apologized to them, while also blaming Paige and her family for his personal issues.
Here is what he said in 2018 about WWE: “I apologized to Triple H for the issues we were in when I was in the relationship with my ex-partner. She and her entire family made me believe that those who affected our relationship were [WWE], specifically [Triple H]. She made me believe that the videos (compromising of the fighter) and all that was outside was by Triple H and the company. At the time I believed her because she was my partner, I defended her by heart and sword.”
It is worth noting that he has made similar claims in the past but WWE has said that they have no interest in bringing him back. We’ll see if WWE is indeed interested this time or if Alberto’s recent comments are just wishful thinking on his part.
