Former WWE NXT Champion Aleister Black doesn’t see the comparisons between himself and future WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker despite what WWE fans think of the similarities of their characters.
Since signing with the WWE, Black is thought of like a modern-day Undertaker by fans but that isn’t something that the NXT star likes to see. Instead, he is his own person but is more than willing to make it known that he has major respect for Taker.
Black recently appeared on an episode of Lilian Garcia’s podcast, Chasing Glory, to talk about a wide range of topics including this comparison. Black made it known that Undertaker didn’t have a personal influence on him when he was a kid growing up as he didn’t have access to watch WWE programming until he was a teenager.
“I understand that people think that because there’s a certain element of me,” he explained. “But there’s only one Undertaker … and I could never, never fill that void. The legacy Undertaker has made, I don’t even know how to put it into words. He changed the landscape. Is Undertaker indirectly responsible for Aleister Black? Sure. Because he’s opened the door for darker characters. He was the first one to really take it to that level and allow an audience to see something that wasn’t so clean and cut.”
