WWE has announced a championship match and two major segments for next week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, which will take place in Cleveland, Ohio. The show will feature the first title defense for the new WWE Tag Team Champions, The Wyatt Sicks.
First Title Defense for The Wyatt Sicks
The Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy) will defend their WWE Tag Team Championships for the first time when they take on the veteran duo of Rey Mysterio and Andrade. Lumis and Gacy captured the titles from The Street Profits on last week’s episode of SmackDown.
Mysterio and Andrade earned this championship opportunity on Friday’s show by winning a high-stakes fatal four-way match. The bout saw them defeat three teams of former tag team champions: #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa), Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom), and the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin).
The match presents a significant opportunity for both challengers. Rey Mysterio last held WWE tag team gold in 2021 when he was champion with his son, Dominik Mysterio. Andrade, meanwhile, has never held a WWE Tag Team Championship in his career.
SummerSlam Collision Course
The show will also feature an appearance by all four participants in one of SummerSlam’s most anticipated matches. Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and country music star Jelly Roll will all be on hand to continue the build toward their tag team match at the premium live event. The SummerSlam match will mark the official professional wrestling debut for Jelly Roll, who has worked hard to lose weight to get in better shape for this opportunity.
Championship Preview
Alexa Bliss is scheduled to go one-on-one with one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Roxanne Perez. This singles match will serve as a preview for the upcoming championship match at SummerSlam. At that event, Bliss will team with her partner, Charlotte Flair, to challenge the reigning champions, Perez and her Judgment Day stablemate, Raquel Rodriguez.
