An injury forced WWE to scrap an angle from SmackDown

One WWE star dealing with an injury, which led to changes being made to the script for last week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that original plans called for WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura to defend his title against Braun Strowman at the TLC PPV.

That match is now up in the air as Strowman is injured. The company planned to do an angle on SmackDown between the two stars to set up their contest at TLC. As a result of the minor injury, the angle was nixed.

This news comes after it was reported that Strowman missed live events this past weekend due to injury. Per the report, Meltzer noted that he’s heard that Strowman is suffering from back spasms, but the official word from WWE is that he has a sore hip.

Either way, Strowman is expected to be back in action soon. It was noted that if Strowman is ready to work by Sunday then WWE could still do the angle with Nakamura on Friday’s SmackDown.

WWE also had to nix a match from Monday’s Raw involving Seth Rollins due to injury. You can read all about that here.
