Andrade’s next move has been revealed, as the recently released superstar’s first post-WWE booking has been officially announced. The Crash revealed on Friday that Andrade will be appearing at their event on Friday, October 3, in Tijuana, Mexico, at the Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno. An opponent for the former WWE United States and NXT Champion has not yet been named for the show, which will mark his first official match since his second departure from WWE.
Andrade’s second tenure with WWE came to an abrupt end last week when his profile was moved to the alumni section of the company’s website. It was later reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that the exit was a “disciplinary thing” and not a talent-requested release. The issue was reportedly not related to drugs, alcohol, or his marriage to fellow wrestler Charlotte Flair. Later reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter detailed internal frustrations within WWE regarding Andrade, including a perceived lack of improvement in his English promo skills and a sense of “buyer’s remorse” after his return from AEW didn’t generate the sustained fan reaction the company had hoped for, unlike the returns of Cody Rhodes and CM Punk.
Since his departure, Andrade has posted messages on social media thanking WWE and has also engaged in online banter with AEW’s MJF about a potential match in CMLL. This was Andrade’s second run with WWE. His first, from 2015 to 2021, was successful and saw him become a cornerstone of the NXT brand, where he held the NXT Championship. He was later called up to the main roster and captured the United States Championship.
After being granted his release in March 2021, he had a two-and-a-half-year stint in AEW before his contract expired in December 2023. He made a surprise return to WWE as a participant in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match. His second run saw him featured on both Raw and SmackDown, but his momentum appeared to stall in recent months, and his last televised match for the company was in July 2025.
