Another former WWE star scheduled to be in St. Louis during Royal Rumble weekend

Another former WWE star scheduled to be in St. Louis this weekend is Kurt Angle, per Fightful.

The story noted that WWE and Angle had talks about returning for an on-screen role. Angle has talked about this on his podcast and WrestlingNews.co first reported a few months after his retirement match that there was an offer for him to return as a manager. Angle later confirmed on his podcast that he was asked about managing Matt Riddle.

The latest on Angle is that the plan was for him to be in St. Louis but it’s not confirmed that he will be in the Rumble match. Angle last wrestled at WrestleMania 35 in a loss to Baron Corbin.

As previously noted, FOX was said to be happy about the unannounced cameos for Jeff Jarrett and Eric Bischoff last week and the word is that more names will be brought in to make appearances on the weekly TV shows so Angle being in St. Louis could simply be for him to make an appearance in a backstage skit.

WWE usually brings in former talent to their tentpole shows (SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, etc.) because it gives them an opportunity to film content for the WWE Network/Peacock. Among other things, they will be filming Table For 3 episodes so it’s possible that Angle is being brought in for that and possibly for Raw and/or SmackDown appearances this week.
